At College of the Ozarks, you can help to pay for your own education in a way that actually enriches your learning! As a full-time student, you'll devote 15 hours each week to a campus job; our work program will involve you in one or more of over 80 areas, including agriculture, computers, construction and many more. Combined with scholarships and grants, your earnings will cover the cost of your education, making College of the Ozarks very affordable for you. Best of all, you'll find that on-the-job experience gives you an edge on the competition when you begin your career after college.

Living, studying, working, and playing together, our students enjoy a community that affirms Christian values and the worth of each individual. You'll find a new family at College of the Ozarks, a friendly company of fellow students, faculty, staff, and administrators who share your desire to achieve worthwhile goals and who will offer a helping hand along the way.

Fully accredited, College of the Ozarks offers you a solid learning experience in any of more than 31 academic majors.

Ranked among the top twenty liberal arts colleges in the Midwest by U. S. News & World Report, we have also been selected to appear on the John Templeton Foundation Honor Roll for Character Building Colleges, a listing of schools that "encourage the development of strong m**** character among students."

Our dedicated faculty members bring a love for teaching to the classroom, as well as strong credentials and professional experience. You'll get the full benefit of their expertise with our low student-faculty ratio of 14 to 1.

Our beautiful 1,000-acre campus, overlooking Lake Taneycomo, provides excellent facilities and a scenic environment for learning.
Academic Growth

The people you'll meet at College of the Ozarks will remind you of yourself: friendly, sincere, interested in helping others as you prepare for your own future. Our Christian values give us a common bond of caring fellowship, however varied the individual gifts we bring to our community may be. Before you've been here very long, you'll come to think of us as family.
Students

Most of the 1,500 young men and women who attend College of the Ozarks come from Missouri and Arkansas, although 42 states and 20 foreign countries are represented all together. About 85 percent of our students live on campus in our four women's and three men's residence halls. Some of them chose College of the Ozarks because of our work program. Many were attracted by our national reputation for academic excellence or by a particular academic program that we offer. Nearly all appreciate the friendly, personal attention they've received since they first expressed interest in joining our student body. You will, too.
Faculty

Our professors will impress you with their competence and thorough knowledge. Of the more than 100 people who teach here, full and part-time, over half hold a doct**** degree.

What you may value even more highly is their enthusiasm, their dedication to teaching, and their willingness to share themselves with their students. Our low student-faculty ratio of 14 to 1 makes friendly conversations between teachers and students an everyday occurrence in our classrooms, as well as in faculty offices, in the cafeteria, and wherever people meet on campus.

We like to meet people. We like to make newcomers welcome. Why not come for a visit and talk with our students and faculty members!

At College of the Ozarks, you'll receive a first-rate liberal arts education. Your course of studies will expose you to a broad range of knowledge, ideas, and skills, besides providing intensive concentration in one of 31 major areas. At graduation, you will have earned either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree.

In a recent survey compiled by U. S. News and World Report, we were ranked among the top twenty liberal arts colleges in the Midwest, based on such factors as reputation for academic excellence and faculty quality. If you compare costs of education as well, we become the Midwest's "best buy" for a high quality, liberal arts education.
Vocational Growth

Your campus job can pay for the cost of your education at College of the Ozarks. Our distinctive work program-one of only a very few such programs in the entire country-makes college affordable for many students who might not otherwise be able to meet the cost of their education. For others, the work program means freedom from having to pay back loans after graduation. Best of all, the on-the-job experience you gain as a student at College of the Ozarks will add extra dimensions to your learning.
A Wide Range of Opportunities

For you, participating in the work program might mean spending 15 hours a week working in the Computer Center, at the Child Development Center, at the Ralph Foster Museum, at the McDonald Hospital, or in any of more than 80 other areas on campus.

Unlike the federal "work-study" programs that most colleges offer, our work program lets you contribute in a significant way, both to your own education and to the betterment of the community. In addition to your normal weekly hours during each semester, you'll work two 40-hour weeks per year chosen from the weeks when classes aren't in session. Combined with scholarships and grants, your earnings will cover the cost of your education.
Enriching Your Education

Once you've established yourself here, you can expect your work assignment to be closely related to the career field you've chosen if you want it to be. From the beginning, you'll see how your work commitment helps you develop personal characteristics like responsibility, cooperativeness, and initiative. These qualities will serve you well, no matter what path you take in life. That's one reason we were included in the John Templeton Foundation Honor Roll for Character Building Colleges, an annual listing of schools that "encourage the development of strong m**** character among students."

Because the experience you'll gain here is so valuable, we include your work performance along with your academic grades on your student records. You can put together an impressive set of credentials to show future employers after you graduate.

At College of the Ozarks, we call ourselves "Hard Work U." That's because our work program sets us apart from nearly every other college in the country and lets us provide a distinctive education that will work for you.

The time you spend at College of the Ozarks will be a wise investment in your future. A liberal arts education lets you break through the barriers that limit those who bring on only job-training skills to their professional careers.

You'll discover a world of opportunity waiting for you at graduation.
Career Development

We'll help you set a direction for your professional life after college. The staff members in our Career Development office will work with you to clarify your career goals and to make you aware of the range of options in your chosen area. Through testing services, individual counseling, and the materials in our career resource library, you can be sure you're making the career choice that's right for you.

Very likely, you'll find connections between your work assignments at College of the Ozarks and your chosen career field. As graduation approaches, you'll appreciate the placement services offered by the Career Development Office. In addition to establishing a placement file for you, we'll provide advice on resume preparation, job search, and interview skills.

With this kind of help and the work experience you've acquired, you'll approach your first after-college job with confidence!

Learning to Lead

Through the ROTC program, you can enhance your leadership skills and reinforce your self-confidence. You'll discover untapped talents and strengths by taking part in activities such as rappelling, orienteering, leadership reaction courses, and field training in exercises.

In ROTC classes, you'll study subjects like Branches of the Army, Selected Military Operations and Tactical Tasks, Command and Staff Functions, Intelligence and Electronic Warfare, and Military History.

If you're not sure whether ROTC is for you, just remember, you don't have to commit to the program in order to take the first military science class. ROTC provides a common ground that serves as a basis for making friends and for learning how to get along with the folks who come from varied backgrounds-a definite s****** needed for everyday living.
ROTC Scholarships

To foster a patriotic environment, both on our campus and in the lives of deserving young men and women, College of the Ozarks provides scholarships (that will be applied to room and board) for residential students who attend and satisfactorily complete Camp Challenge of the ROTC Program.

Military Science instructors will select scholarship recipients based on ROTC criteria. The College will approve those selected using the criteria of satisfactory academic, work, and citizenship records. The $1200 scholarship will be awarded as follows: $300 in the Fall Semester and $900 in the Spring Semester, providing satisfactory academic, work, and citizenship standards have been maintained.
Cultural Growth

As a student at College of the Ozarks, you can take advantage of unique learning opportunities that go beyond your regular classes and work assignment to broaden your horizons and enrich your understanding of the world.
Citizens Abroad Program

The Keeter Center for Character Education at College of the Ozarks has an international travel program that provides opportunities to supplement learning in the classroom with travel to foreign countries. The Citizens Abroad Program provides funding for trips proposed by College of the Ozarks faculty and/or staff that tie into subjects covered in the classroom. Students who have participated in particular courses are invited to apply. Most recently, groups of eight to twenty students have traveled with designated faculty and/or staff to such countries as England, Ireland, France, and Italy. Countries to be visited are determined by trip proposals. All expenses for the Citizens Abroad Program trips are provided by an endowment from the H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation.
Closer to Home

Even if you choose not to participate in the international travel program, you will still experience cultural growth at College of the Ozarks.
