The band was formed in Australia in 1985 and has been one of the most popular and best selling Christian music artists of the past two decades. They have released more than 15 albums and have many awards over the years. The band's original name was The News, but once in the US they changed it to The Newsboys to avoid conflict with another US based band. The current members are: Peter Furler, Jeff Frankenstein, Duncan Phillips and Paul Colman. The Newsboys have significant links to Every Nation, an organization of Charismatic Churches. The group's lead singer, Peter Furler, is a member of Bethel World Outreach Center, an Every Nation church.
