I am in a disciplship program called 212 Degrees. The quote above is our moto i guess you could say. In this program, we go on "service trips". What that is, is just doing something to serve the community. Our first session we went to tent city, which is in Baltimore City MD. It's just a little pad of concrete where homeless people like to chill in the summer, because its surounded by trees. We went down there to talk to them and we brought them gatorade. We don't give them money, because they most likely will spend it on drugs,alcohol, or a prostitute. The point of saying this is we showed them Jesus. Jesus wasn't all talk He was action. He went and did things for people He talked to the lonely and the misunderstood, and the outcasts, and the homeless. It made these peoples day, because so often other people treat them like they aren't even human. We talked to them like they actually mattered, because they do matter. After "service trips" we have a group disscusion. One girl named Sea said "My mom has everything, but she still isn't happy. At tent city today I noticed that those people have nothing and they are still so happy. It made me realize how selfish we can be." I agreed! I mean think about that, it is so true! The second session, we walked around picking up trash. It is a city, so its pretty nasty and you find some very interesting things. You have to be extremely careful because needles are everywhere. we got one thank you. But that wasn't what we wanted. We just wanted to make a small difference. The third session we visited a nursing home. I personally painted peoples finger nails. It was a lot of fun. We made their day. Once again thats not why we do it though. The point of putting this up was you can make a difference. At school, your work place, and at home. One of the biggest ways to reach unsaved loved ones is by servantship. And anothing is, that servantship starts at home believe it or not. To be completely honest most times thats the hardest place to serve people. We are called to be like Jesus, He was a servant, TO EVERYONE! I challenge you to start serving others! It could be the smallest thing but it could make the biggest difference, and thats what truly matters. = ) God bless y'all.
